David Schnell
Kleine Scheune, 2004 | Acrylic on canvas

David Schnell is an important representative of the Neue Leipziger Schule. He studied art and painting at the Hochschule fur Grafik and Buchkunst in Leipzig. Like Matthias Weischer, another important pupil of the Leipzig school, Schnell made use of the tradition and techniques of figurative art. Schnell interpreted its figures in accordance with individual lines of research and rich in expressive methods linked to one of the most significant genres in art: the landscape. The painting 'Kleine Scheune' shows a constructed space. He took landscape and architecture apart and reassembles them in irreal perspectives so that fragments of his unconventional constructions appear like relicts of another reality.
